Andrew Carnegie isn’t a hero because he only does things for money to in the end make a name for himself. Andrew Carnegie was a selfish man. He didn’t like competetition and he didn’t like losing or giving money away unless it benefitted him. Carnegie allegedly grew up poor and by the age of 12 went to work to help out his family. Carnegie worked 12 hours a day and got payed $1.20 a week, later he taught himself morse code and got payed $4 a week ( because he got promoted to telegraph operator.) but by the age of 24 he made a solid $1,500 a year. In 1855 Carnegie discorved invesment and learned that investing could make him more money. And that was an overall Problem the simple fact that he just wanted money. That made Carnegie feel intimidated so Carnegie basically sabotaged his company by sending out notices to railroads telling them that Allegheny’s business would lead to defective rails which would in the end cause fatal acciendents. In the end Csrnegie was sucessful with this because Allegheny’s business sufferend and Carnegie took control of the works. This shows that Carnegie didn’t like competition because it made him lose money and because Carnegie loved his money he would do anything within his power to take down any competetion completely and only gain money for himself. This proves that Carnegie is also not a Hero because he doesn’t play fair instead of Carnegie trying to negotiate a deal with Allegheny he took him out and stole his business
