Following World War II was a 4 decade period of tension between Soviet Russia (The U.S.S.R) and the United States. Although a direct conflict did not break out in the period between 1947 and 1991, we call this The Cold War. The body of this paper will discuss the reasons as to why this conflict ensued and briefly detail some of the conflicts included in the Cold War as well as why it is called as such.
The first thing to address would be why it is called The Cold War and give a background of what exactly happened.
