Raymond Morin, author of "William Billings: Pioneer in American Music", discusses about the hardships of musicians legitimizing the realism and importance of music. Musicians and their works were often misjudged and misunderstood. William Billings was the first known American musician who composed his first American piece. He made a significant influence on the music world with organizing the Stoughton Musical Society in Massachusetts as well as creating his own style of music called the fugue due to not liking of the sound of the simple harmonies such as "Tansur's, The Royal Melody Compleat" and a couple of others.
