Throughout history there have been many famous poets, but one that sticks out the most is William Shakespeare. While Shakespeare is not only known for his poetry, he also is known for his writing in plays. Shakespeare got the start to his writing career in 1592. The genres he stuck to were comedy, tragedy, and history when writing plays. When he switched over to writing poetry he stuck to sonnets that had a rhyme scheme and themes such as love and lust, selfishness and greed, self-deprecation and inadequacy, homoerotic desire, financial bondage, and color symbolism (Shakespeare's Sonnets).
