Shakespeare’s influence is unquestionable, as he is revered and known worldwide. His innovation on linguistics and the English language are innumerable for many of the words he displayed are still used today. Shakespeare’s influence is still enjoyed today seen in contemporary movies, poems, and plays. Many authors have expounded on Shakespeare’s work bringing alive the inspiration, love, tragedies, and contributions weaved within the words and linguistics of Shakespearian work. Some of these insightful authors include: Francis Beaumont, Christopher Marlowe, Thomas Middleton, and Tom Stoppard. Beaumont worked closely with Fletcher, as they would change some of the scenes and perspectives within their plays, as well as writing plays in unison. In fact, Beaumontand Fletcher often included variations as “cross-dressing [as it] often enacts [ed] anxiety about political authority as well as gender roles, as though gender served as a discussible surrogate for a less discussible topic, royal absolutism” (Berek 1).
