The Wizard of Oz Response In the classic film "The Wizard of Oz," directed by Victor Fleming, they use various literary devices to develop the role kindness plays when determining one's destiny. As portrayed by the character of Dorothy and her compassionate interactions with others, this movie displays how kindness will sooner get you to your end goal. Before Dorthy's transformation, she was just a young girl, living a small life in Kansas. She shows us that she has a belief she should be somewhere else when she sings “Over the Rainbow.” She knows there is somewhere else she is destined to be, somewhere in her dreams. Her kind heart is the sole foundation, to the choices she makes while on her journey. Dorthy is faced with struggles after the tornado has happened, she's left in munchkin land all alone.
