While the game played by men and women have the same goal, scoring to win, the sport of men’s and women’s lacrosse is incredibly different making it difficult to compare. From an outsider’s perspective, it may appear as if the only difference is the gender. However, when examining the rules, there are more differences than similarities such as the equipment used, the protective gear worn and the amount of physical contact allowed. These are just a few of many of the differences.
Normally the Anglo-American society discouraged Americans of having relations or interest in any Native ball game, but the sport of lacrosse was so interesting, the white men organized the game to their own standards. After a royal visit from the Prince of Wales to witness the game, a man by the name of William George Beers aspired to standardize and popularize lacrosse. He wrote all the rules and regulations that we see in modern lacrosse. At that time, lacrosse was played generally in a “box” as if a skating rink or hockey rink. Box lacrosse and field lacrosse games both have a duration of 60 minutes (4 quarters of 15 minutes) without pausing time for penalties and in between quarters.
In the 1930s, Box lacrosse, a new variation of the game, was created. Box lacrosse became very popular in Canada, due to the increased interest in hockey at this time. Box lacrosse combined the two sports, incorporating the checking and team play of hockey, but with the stick skills and footwork of lacrosse. The game was played 5 vs 5 in rinks without ice, and quickly overcame field lacrosse’s popularity in Canada. Back in the US, Lacrosse had continued to expand, and it began to flourish as a spring sport in Ivy League schools.
In Canada, they invented that anyone can play lacrosse if they were a boy or girl, they invented girls lacrosse. This quote shows that lacrosse in Canada has similarities to football in the United States. “Half-time demonstrations of other sports was a common occurrence at Lacrosse matches, and special occasions for competition in other sports were often sponsored by the Lacrosse organization in the community.” (Mitchell) Lacrosse in Canada has changed lives since the 1800s, they used it to train for war, religious sacrifice, and to compete in modern-day

A Key Difference Between Girls and Boys Lacrosse The referee’s whistle blows fiercely. “You have been given a red card due to holding of the stick, covering of the ball, and stick checking above the shoulders in a dangerous manner.” Many boys and girls play an exciting sport called lacrosse, but play with different equipment and rules for each gender. These differences impact an essential part of the game, stick checking. Stick checking in lacrosse occurs when you lightly whack your opponent's stick and try to get them to lose control of the ball.
He created a new league 3 or 4 years ago and made it so that all players would get the utmost respect and made sure fans were there. The game has been growing for a while ever since colleges have started to get recognized for their lacrosse programs and people see how amazing the sport is and want to join it to be a part of a great loving community. “Within their respective genders, no sport has experienced greater growth than men’s or women’s lacrosse. The number of women’s lacrosse teams nearly doubled between 2003 and 2018, rising 97% from 256 to 505. Men’s lacrosse experienced a 61% increase over the 15-year time period, fielding 380 teams by 2018.”
You never know when your time comes. Even as a doctor, Mr. Link had regular checkups and was hypochondria. Thinking he had every disease in the book with just minor symptoms. Things in life were never taken for granted by David Link Silar. He was known for many things; great things.
The rules were simple, that the ball may not be touched by hand while throwing and catching the ball with netted rackets, trying to make it in the net for a goal. These rules were created by the tribes Seneca and Mohawks in the year of 1763. Back then they sometimes would use Lacrosse to toughen up young boys who were going to go fight for their country. In Lacrosse, there are only four positions to fill,

Greek gods and Gods are different, but also there both the same. Let me say same reasons why their bothe them same and different. One reason why Greeks gods are different from God, from the bible is because there are make stories from the Greeks and they are not real, but the God from the bible are true stories and they are real. Also, in stories in Greek gods they live in a temple call Mount Olympics, but in the story of God, he lives in heaven or here with us. Lastly, God teaches us people a lesson while Greek gods tell us how things happen in our world.
“Female discrimination in sports is a common occurrence all around the world, women are seen as less than males.” (Ladrea) Equality in sports is unequal. In the 1800 women got very little attention and did not get the opportunity to play in any sport in America and all around the world. Men could go and try out for different sports teams and workout but for women they were only allowed to stay home to cook and clean. There were some events women could participate in but it could not be competitive, it was focused on getting active and staying active.
Broadly speaking women and men have had different roles in the community for a long time. These differences are slowly converging now. However, physical differences do exist. Genetically men are better adapted genetically to perform physical tasks.
