Robert Reich has worked as a project manager at Christa Construction Company for over fourteen years in Rochester, New York. His main responsibilities were overseeing and managing the entire project from design, budget, contract negotiations, facilitate meetings as well as managing the sub-contractors. In addition, his main responsibility was to stick by a specified schedule to ensure the project was completed in a timely manner. He made it his mission to ensure he kept his clients informed throughout the whole project and they were satisfied in the end. One of his major problems while working at Christa Construction Company was when he had to work on a six-story senior living housing project, that was in downtown Ithaca, New York.

Since 1982, they have completed over $5 billion worth of construction and between $150-$200 million in construction annually. The company services areas of pre-referendum, construction management, facilities management, construction consulting, general construction, design/build, and real estate and development aspects. Their sister company, Christa Development Corporation, benefits the company to offer clients comprehensive solutions to ensure the future success of the project. In 2002, David Christa, Founder and CEO, restructured the company to benefit the top management team. In addition, it offered clients to be involved with each project they did. The company prides itself on providing great customer satisfaction and completing the projects in a timely manner while staying on budget. The company has built and renovated public schools, hospitals, colleges, nursing homes, independent living complexes, hotels, condos, and retail stores. Christa Construction Company has had a difficult time hiring different trades to come and work on the project, which can further delay schedule. Many of the local trades have had partnerships with the competitors or is unreliable for showing up at the workplace in a timely manner. Also, some of the sub-contractors have a poor work ethic. The company tends to hire sub-contractors for every aspect of the project, because they don’t believe it is feasible to have in-house trades. On the other hand, the company has low differentiation within the marketplace. The projects are posted on a site where companies can place their bid for the project. Each bid must be an affordable and reliable estimate for the client. The competitor with the lowest bid typically receives the project. Christa Construction Company has low differentiation with the marketplace, since they should have similar pricing strategies compared to their competitors to receive the project.
