World Beliefs System Essay There are many religions that have spread throughout the world. Some of these religions include Buddhism,Christianity, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Native religions, Shintoism, and Taoism. Although there are many religions two that I chose to talk about are Buddhism, and Taoism. I will be identifying the nation or region in which they were found, describe their basic beliefs or teachings, and how they influenced many and spread throughout the world.
To begin with, Buddhism first started in Northern India back in the 5th century B.C. It first started with Siddhartha Gautama. At 29 years old he followed a spiritual life and after 6 years attained enlightenment. Siddhartha attained enlightenment under a Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, India. To start Taoism first started with founder Lao-Tzu a Chinese philosopher in the 6th century. Taoism started during the Tang dynasty. Some believe Taoism is apart of a religious tradition while others think it’s philosophical system. Tao means “ The way”. They also have a symbol of peace called Yin Yang.
Some basic teachings of the Buddhism religion are that they don’t believe in one personal god, but in many gods. There is also more than one form of Buddhism. Buddhist also believe in reincarnation, They believe that our mind sees visions of either good or bad karma then it’s used to rebirth us. They also have Four Noble Truths, the four noble truths started as Siddhartha Gautama was troubled by human misery that he saw around him everyday and made the assumption that desire was the root cause to all suffering.
Taoism also does not believe in one personal god or any other god. In Taoism they believe nature has a way in which it moves and people should passively accept the “way” of nature, rather than resist it. Their belief is based on the idea that there is a central or organizing principle of the
