The sounds on sirens fill the smokey air. Lights flicker and completely burn out. Nothing but complete and utter panic circles the inside of the destroyed buildings and the sidewalks of New York. On February 25,1993, a terrorist attack occurred at the World Trade Center in New York City, when a rental van drove into the parking garage below the World Trade Center of the North Tower and used a nitrate-hydrogen homemade gas bomb killing 6 people and injuring over a 1,000. Then, power went out in both Twin Towers and the hotel crating panic with people not being able to communicate the situations to their loved ones along with the many who were trapped for hours on end in elevators in both the hotel and North and South towers. The victims of the attack were 6 people and injured more than 1,000 people being 88 firefighter, 35 medical workers and the rest fell victim to injuries from the attack. This bombing attack is known as the precursor to the attack of 9/11 and is overshadowed by the 9/11 attacks cause more deaths occured in the later attack. From the main terrorist himself, Yousef said that his only regret was that “the 110 story-tower did not collapse into its twin as planned” which would be a catasphrone that would kill thousands. This attack was surprising to everyone because America had never seen an attack like this before on American soil as well as a terrorist attack on this big of a scale, aimed at a federal building. For instance, this was the first time in New York city records history that over 16-alarm responses had been triggered by the FDNY. When this attack occured, many new yorkers asked themselves if this could be an electrical mishap or an electrical fire, but evidence showed that a crater that big could only be the doings of a human explosive. Once, the government came out with the evidence and information about the attack was done by malicious intent then it created fear among not only the New York citizens, but the whole United States of America. This social impact of pure fear and panic led Americans to question what they thought was “untouchable” and even invinceable. America had always been the sort of country that attacks and protects our country first of foreign land but being attacked on our own soil changed American perspective forever. Although, the emotion of panic happened during the attack were workers within the buildings experienced smoke, cries for help, fire and many more dangers the aftermath of the situations is what led Americans to panic. Would the perpetrators attack again? Why would they do something like this? What were their motives? All questions that everyone
