The first World War also known as the Great War lasted four years. It lasted from 1914 until 1919 the months were July in which it started and it ended in November. World War 2 started in 1939 and ended in 1945. The World War 2 started 20 years after the first World War. The first World War lasted a year longer than the second World War the first lasted six years as the the second lasted five years. But the conflict in the second World War began even before the war started. They started a couple years before the war actually began.
The biggest cause of the first World War was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie. They were assassinated by Gavrilo Princip and he was supported by the Black Hand. The Black Hand was a nationalist organization in Siberia. The other big cause was the growth of nationalism across Europe. Also before the war began the allies had formed and fought for territory. Since so many people were angry about the assassination these countries went to war. The main cause of World War 2 was the people were all fighting German Nazis after they had invaded many cities.
