I myself have to think sometimes about what other people might be going through, even though we have freedom over here, there are many wars happening and many people losing their lives. To me, a veteran is a hero in disguise that live among ordinary people and live ordinary lives. I really enjoyed reading your post – you’ve brought up some really good and crucial points. These soldiers have risked their lives to protect our county, so it is only right and fair for our country to provide them the services and treatment that they deserve if suffering from PTSD. I also agree with you over how we need to let these veterans know that it is absolutely normal to feel distressed about what they had to experience. We should definitely not belittle them or make them feel like they are being overdramatic. PTSD is a serious disorder and should not be taken lightly.
There are a lot of important reasons why we should honor our veterans. One of the biggest reasons we should honor our veterans is because they risked their lives to protect ours. In some of the scariest, if not the scariest, situations in the world, thousands of soldiers bravely fought for our freedom. Even though they knew the risks, they still decided to go into the military. To this day, many veterans still face side effects of war.

I have a few people in my family that are veterans. Their service means alot to me. I admire them for their for their bravery and loyalty to their country. They inspire me in many ways such as to be brave even if the situation requires only a small act of bravery, and to speak out against something I know is wrong. To me veterans need to be honored every day for their service.
In Jane Brody’s alarming article, “War Wounds That Time Alone Can’t Heal” Brody describes the intense and devastating pain some soldiers go through on a daily basis. These soldiers come home from a tragic time during war or, have vivid memories of unimaginable sufferings they began to experience in the battle field. As a result these soldiers suffer from, “emotional agony and self-destructive aftermath of moral injury…” (Brody). Moral injury has caused much emotional and physical pain for men and women from the war.
Many veterans are unemployed due to lack of education, they are homeless because of lack of funds, they are alone because they lack a family, or they are suffering because of the nightmares that come with fighting in terribles wars. America honors the veterans that stand tall when they come back from war-ravaged countries, welcoming them with hugs and thanks and parades. Though when it comes to veterans who lack the materials to take care of themselves and live like a normal citizen, America ignores them, turning a blind eye. They act as if that veteran who is homeless has not gone to another country and risked their life - and for what cause? What would one lose if they were to stop and donate a few coins?
Veterans should be able to come home no matter how much money that they have and get the help that they need, a roof over their head and food. For example, when I get to go and see my cousins up in Illinois I see a lot of homeless people on the side of the road holding up signs begging for food, money and clothes and most of them are probably veterans that

As an American, I believe that the people that have fought in the wars for our country are some of the strongest and some of the most well respected people in this world. My uncle was in the army and because of it, he is a stronger human being. He also is dependable and trustworthy person. He learned that from the places he was at and the things he saw. People that come back from serving might not be the same because of what they saw or what happened to them.
The US has grappled with many questions about society’s obligations as to whether or not to offer services and benefits to the men and women in the armed forces. Supporters argue that helping veterans will help the society as whole and opponents argue that we shouldn’t be increasing our federal government spending in repaying veterans. Although I do see where people can argue that we are spending too much money on helping veterans after war, I believe that the government owes them for what they have done for the country, despite the cost. The government owes certain benefits to veterans because the men and women in the armed forces deserve to be welcomed home with a generous system of services for what they have done for the country. Helping veterans goes way back all the way to the 1600s.
