Writing and Me

I have had many writing experiences throughout school. In elementary, I remember writing paragraphs about a certain topic that the teacher gave to us. For example, my favorite summer activity or what I want to be when I grow up. We were required to write a paper for DARE Graduation in 5th grade. In middle school, we started to learn how to write things like research papers or reviews on a topic we learned about in class. During freshman and sophomore year, we started to work on many different types of writing including short stories, poems, speeches, and research papers. I like assignments that have clear guidelines and specific topics to write about or questions to answer. I don’t like doing creative writing

If I am given a writing assignment I can usually get it done quickly and effectively. I enjoy writing about things that are interesting to me. The writing process is easier than it seems; writing is a subject where you can just go off of what you are thinking instead of searching through numerous books and websites like you may have to do in other classes. I usually get my ideas and inspiration from subjects centered around the topic we are given. I like to listen to music while I write and be in an environment where I can get my work done without people bothering me. I feel my writings are the best when I work on them during the day or early evening. Once I am tired it gets much harder to think about what I am and to put together a well written paper. We all make mistakes while writing; I like to revise my paper as I go along rather than all at the end. I often reread sentences I have just written to keep me thinking about what I should include next; while doing this, I often make changes to make the sentences grammatically correct and flow better. I prefer to write my papers on the computer. Typing is a quicker way for me to get my thoughts onto the paper than slowing writing it out. I feel ideas come quicker when I type because I don’t have to take the time to write it out on a piece of paper. As a student, I typically get my work done ahead of time and don’t wait until the last second to finish an
