In the book Held, by Stacy Claflin, the audience is mostly for teenage girls who are into thriller books. The purpose of this book is to entertain people and have them on the edge of their seats. The novel is a mystery and a thriller. From reading this book I have learned many things. I learned how kidnappers think and plan things out. Many kidnappers will be watching you for a long time and getting to know the person you are. It can take as long as they want until they feel it is ready to do the kidnapping. You should never give out personal information to strangers. That is pretty obvious, but some people can do crazy things. It was like watching a Netflix show that you are really into and after each episode you just wanted to find out what happens next. So you watch another show after another, and it ends up being really late. That is exactly how I felt reading this book. This book made me feel all sorts of emotions. At the beginning of the book I felt mad because Macy made some pretty dumb decisions that caused her to be in a bad situation. The dumb decision Macy made that caused her to get kidnapped, was meeting with a guy she met online. Macy now is forced to be the daughter that her kidnapper lost. Chester, the kidnapper also forces Macy to call him “dad.” Chester literally gives her a new name and new identity. I felt really angry at Chester for everything he has done to Macy. I was irritated how Chester always got his way and most people believed he was a good person. At times I felt heart broken for Macy’s family. They have gone through hell and everything seems to always go wrong. They do not have any idea
