Powers of Congress Congress is our biggest part of the government, with two chambers and a total of 535 people. It is safe to say that because of the manpower, that they have more power than the rest of the government. Many powers of Congress include, taxing, making bills, and being able to impeach the President. While some may think that Congress is too powerful and needs to be brought down a few levels, I believe that Congress is for the most part perfect. There are some powers that Congress does possess that are ludicrous and should be taken out, but even without those powers Congress has plenty of powers that are beneficial to the government as a whole. Congress has powers that are very important to society and should certainly stay in their abilities. Without a doubt Congress has to be able to check what the President is doing, but something has to make it so the President can breathe. It is hard enough having the public at your throat, Congress should not be at that point as well. A power that Congress should have is having complete control over tariffs, recently the President has placed tariffs on certain imports from foreign countries. Congress controls everything money, so they should be the ones who are in complete control of tariffs as well. The final thing that Congress should have is the power over air transportation security, this idea may seem odd but there is proven evidence that the TSA does not do a good enough job. Congress should be in control of TSA regulations and ordinance so air travel is safer, even though Homeland Security is currently in charge of the TSA, if given over to Congress there would be changes for the
