Writing Course Reflection

When we started this course I was intimidated that I would not be able to grasp all the topics and that I would not be able to get a good grade in this class. This did not affect me though as I gave my all in this class, I submitted all the assignments and made sure I understood the concepts learned in each assignment. This course required a lot of time and effort as it was a session B course and was completed over a period of 8 weeks. I also developed skills of persistence, flexibility and responsibility by completing my assignments on time each week. The objective of this course was to grow as a writer and through each assignment I feel like I have learned something new and grown as a writer. Each skill I developed in the class was also useful

For project one I wrote about Mill Avenue the heart of the city of Tempe and a place very close to the ASU Tempe campus. I had to profile the area and this was the first time I had ever written an essay or profile about a place. It was a good learning experience as I learned how to profile a place and what steps are required to profile a place. I think through project 1 the area I grew the most was in processes and critical thinking,reading and composing as project one really made me think about the place I was writing about and how I could write my profile in a way such that the reader felt they were on Mill Avenue. Reading and analyzing profiles in this class also gave me a good understanding of how I need to shape my own profile and the elements I need to include in my own

I messed up m draft and did not submit a complete draft but I learned my mistake and started to write my draft thereafter. Project two seemed to be easier than project one I think it is because of the concepts I learned in project one were being utilized by me in project two. It was easier for me to analyze my community advertisement and I noticed aspects about the advertisement I would have never noticed had I not analyzed it. I grew a lot in the area of metacognition while completing this project and throughout this course in general. Through peer reviews and feedback from my professor I understood my mistakes and started noticing my mistakes before I started to review my work. Creating my own advertisement also helped me increase my own creativity as I had to choose a topic I was inclined to and create a message that would help spread awareness regarding this
