You may wonder how people live with power, loyalty, revenge, and fear. Almost every character that was killed in Long Way Down sought revenge and got it, then they faced the consequences of being killed. The story states “There's a code of conduct, and what those rules are is number one, no crying, number two, no snitching, number three, always seek revenge.”, cited on page 31.
In the novel, Fools Crow, written by James Welch, the act of revenge is shown numerous times and is an underlying theme throughout. These acts of revenge reflect the Blackfeet way of life. Yellow Kidney, Owl Child, and the rest of the tribe all show signs of revenge and each express it in their own way. This is especially prevalent with Yellow Kidney and Owl Child as they seem to be constantly seeking revenge of some sort. Yellow Kidney wanted revenge on Fast Horse throughout the novel.
Hawthorn Uses revenge to illustrate Chillingworth's decline of death. Roger Chillingworth has one main reason to get revenge and that reason is Dimmsdale, the Minister who stole his wife. Roger Chillingworth has spent 7 years of his life he will never get back just to get revenge on Dimmesdale who at the moment could care less as long as he is innocent in all of this. An antagonist is someone that’s supposed to make it harder on the protagonist to get what they want. In the book that person would obviously be Roger Chillingworth. He tries to make Hesters lovers life hard and in turn messes with her. But in the whole of the book Roger has personally messed with Hester once. The only person to constantly antagonize Hester is Pearl.
It is not really explored in the book “The Scarlet Letter” how Roger Chillingsworth plans to take revenge. But by reading you can see how Roger is getting revenge on the lovers. Simply by being a shadow over them Roger seems to get his revenge. If he is always there to remind them of their sin then that seems good enough for him. He seeks revenge on Dimmesdale’s mind, by constant torment.
“The City” by Ray Bradbury is a story of revenge. The City itself is an unpopulated city on a planet far away from Earth. It seeks revenge upon Earthians who killed its people long ago. The City’s sole purpose is to wait for people of Earth to come back and exact its revenge. It waits twenty thousand years to do so.
In “The Scarlet Letter,” the author, Nathaniel Hawthorne, depicts Roger Chillingworth as a man that is out for revenge. Chillingworth comes into the story and immediately comes to realize that his ex-wife has betrayed him by sleeping with another man. Chillingworth wants to avenge his pride by finding the man that did him wrong by sneaking into his personal life and torturing him under his nose. Throughout this book, Chillingworth changes in many different ways, physically and emotionally. Driven by his lust for revenge, Roger Chillingworth uses his personal background to hide his intent of torturing his wife’s hidden lover, and changes his being throughout the book.
Victor travels to a small island to begin his research in order to create a female for the creature. Eventually, Victor fears that the creature will reproduce with his new mate infesting the world. Therefore , he destroys the new creature before he finishes stating that “Even if they were to leave Europe, and inhabit the deserts of the new world, yet one of the first results of those sympathies for which the daemon thirsted would be children, and a race of devils would be propagated upon the earth” trying to justify his actions. Even though, the creature promised that he will stop his crimes(Curran). Victor’s actions just makes the creature more miserable and resentful.
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee demonstrates that the world is surrounded with good and evil. Scout, Jem and Dill all start innocent, but when they become aware of the evil from the adult world, it forces them to mature quickly. It makes them realize the truth about life, being that there's good, but also evil. Harper Lee uses prejudices in To Kill A Mockingbird to show the evil in life. She shows this through women not being allowed to take part of the jury, people being judged on their social class or their different lifestyle but the most prominent is racism since the jury convicts Tom for a crime he didn't commit just because he was black.
From the very first he showed great courage, steadfastness, and love. But with Mr. Earnshaw 's death Hindley has the power to degrade Heathcliff to the status of a servant. A weak, vindictive character, as cruel as Heathcliff without Heathcliff 's strength, Hindley prepares for his own destruction by his inhumanity to Heathcliff and the other inhabitants of the Heights” (Watson, 90). With the loss of his father, Hindley has a sudden gain of power, in that he must navigate the entire future of Wuthering Heights himself. This opens Hindley up to the stresses and strains of leadership, in which Heathcliff can manipulate the the suffering of Hindley.

The title of you book is Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. The book was about the love affairs of Heathcliff and his sister Catherine. In this essay I will be taking a deeper look into one of the characters in the book and what they deal with during the novel. That character will is name Isabella. Isabella is married to Heathcliff during her time at Wuthering Heights.
In the villains moments of fury and revenge, their imaginations is unable to conceive methods of torture to equal their desires. Heathcliff reveals an utter lack of mercy when he tells Nelly after his marriage to Isabella: Tell your master, Nelly, that I never, in all my life , met with such an abject thing as she is,--she even disgraces the name of Linton…” (Bronte, Boston, 1957.) The sins for which the Byronic hero accepts responsibility are not those which society considers most reprehensible. This is why Heathcliff is considered to be a hero since he has a moral code, but different from society morals. Heathcliff’s remorse is for Cathy’s death, not for his cruelty to others:
“an unreclaimed creature, without refinement, without cultivation; an arid wilderness of furze and whinstone… He is a rough diamond- a pearl- containing oyster of rustic; he’s a fierce, pitiless wolfish man.” (Bronte 163) His tragic element is highlighted by the fact that he is not considered suitable to marry Catherine because of his low class and lack of gentlemanliness. Can Heathcliff be considered as a Byronic Hero?
