There were several hiccups when Microsoft first released the Xbox One. When first launched, the Xbox One was more expensive than the PS4, however, it was not as powerful. One top of that, some felt Xbox’s policies were “anti-consumer” and “hostile”; leaving many with a picture of the company as a “greedy, profit seeking establishment machine” (Pramath, 2016). Another strategic move made with the Xbox One was a shift “from boxed software to a subscription-based service available via the Internet” (Weinberger, 2016). While it offers its standard Xbox Live Silver service, the option to upgrade to the Gold service is available to users at $60 per year.
