Next Gen Gaming Consoles: A Comparison of Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5
These highly anticipated consoles are the latest editions from two of the largest companies in the gaming industry. The Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5 have been introduced to consumers in November of 2020. In this essay, we will be comparing the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5 to help readers understand the similarities and differences between them. Although these two consoles have many similarities, from price of the consoles to subscriptions, these two consoles can offer very different experiences to the consumer.
The PlayStation 5 offers both a vertical and horizontal orientation; however, the Xbox Series X only offers a vertical orientation. The Xbox is built like a brick, it’s a powerful towering machine while the PS5 offers a sleeker two toned design with versatility in the way you can set it up. The PlayStation 5 might offer better design and orientation choices but it's a lot harder to fit into entertainment centers. On the other hand, the Xbox Series X is easier to fit in entertainment centers and blends in easier due to its lack of shape and design. Both the PlayStation and Xbox offer 8-core processors paired with 16 GB of RAM. Although the PlayStation 5 does better in terms of graphics, the Xbox Series X does have faster loading times. In addition, the Xbox does have 1 Terabyte of storage and the PlayStation only offers 825 Gigabytes. In turn, the PlayStation controller does offer more to the consumer. The Dualsense controller has an internal battery, adaptive triggers, haptic feedback and motion controls.
