The world was enclosed under a heavy blanket of darkness. Almost six million bright shining stars were extinguished by a deadly sinister red, a shade streaked with malice and hate, leaving a bleak emptiness in the atmosphere. Hitler had given me quite a job. And if it wasn’t for the few yellow stars that remained, undaunted and luminous, the word would have been shrouded in a thick fog of impenetrable darkness forever. I would like to tell the story of one of those stars. One of those lucky ones that had managed to remain standing. Two carriages in front of me, a glowing pink ball of life emerged from a murky abyss. It landed on a soft circle of pale green, a sign of the beginning of a new world painted with the lovely tones of lively reds, oranges and greens that were tinged with promise and hope.
That was the first time I saw that little girl. And what a lucky girl she was. She was saved from my whispery fingers of eternal black. Saved by her parents. Thrown from a whirlpool of jet blackness to the blinding shards of eye-burning yellow. As her yellow light began to dim, they rekindled her. Until she was once again fiery and strong, blazing passionately with the energy of an undying flame. The energy she needed to light up new flames of her kind.
