Zac Brown Band What is the first thing that comes to mind when people think or listen to country music? The stereotype belonging to country music involves the the thoughts of trucks, rednecks, beer and heartbreak. The ideological cultural force of country music in the United States has been studied to analyze the ideologies found when the whiteness throughout the lyrics of country music was represented. It was the midst of the sunset when I walked onto the venue, Hollywood Bowl, in Los Angeles. The Hollywood Bowl was a decent-sized venue located outside that held a capacity of 17,500 people. There were six large areas of seating with multiple sections. I attended the Zac Brown Band concert with my friend, Maddie, and her mom, Amy whom is a crazy die-hard country fan. Any questions you have about country music, she will have the answers. The venue was filled with loud drunk people, approximately 95% were White, dressed in cowboy/cowgirl boots, french braids, bandanas, flannels, and blue jeans. The majority of the people in the venue were adults. With ice-cold beers in their hands, people were searching for their seats and trying to squeeze their way through the crowd of people. At first, I was confused to see why there were so many people dressed in LA Dodgers gear, but I then realized that the baseball game had been going on that same day, so the baseball fans had to support their team all the way from the concert. As it got darker, the bright and shining lights changed to all sorts of colors. It was almost blinding. It seemed like people were sitting to save their energy for when Zac Brown Band came out. The American flag can portray the artist as patriotic or supporting their ideals of what it means to be American. Many Americans may relate to the purpose of country music because it is meant to celebrate a simple lifestyle including drinking beer and spending time with loved ones.
