You may not know their names, but you have heard of their infamous cases. Cold cases are a unique type of crime in which the crimes have stumped investigators and police for years. Many of these cases remain unsolved to this day. Many people all around the world are still baffled at the horrifying crimes that these infamous people have committed. One of the most well-known cold cases is that of the notorious Zodiac Killer. He claimed to have taken 37 lives. The killer began his murder spree in 1968. The Zodiac Killer would often send taunting coded messages to the police, most of which have not been solved. The most well-known message that he has ever sent was a message containing his name. Many people recognize this case from the footage of her hiding in the elevator of the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles. She died at the young age of 22 in 2013. Her case is especially interesting because of the footage that seemed to confuse everyone. In the video, she is seen running and hiding in an elevator and pressing all of the buttons on the elevator. She simply hides in the corner of the elevator, seemingly afraid of something. She would later be found dead in a water tank on the roof of the hotel. She was found nineteen days after she was reported missing. When she was found, she was completely naked. After her autopsy, it was recorded that there were no substances, such as alcohol or drugs, that could have caused her death. Some speculate that she was murdered; however, after her autopsy, there were no signs of trauma to the body. Some suggest she killed herself; however, this theory seems to lack proof. The only entrance to the roof was a fire escape, which meant she would have had to climb out of a window or through a door that would set off an alarm if opened. She would then have to climb a ten-foot tank, open a twenty-pound lid to enter the water tank, and strip off her clothes inside the tank.
