Are Zoos Beneficial?
Ever want to have a great time with family and friends learning about animals, well a zoo or aquarium is a wonderful place to visit for hours of entertainment. Accredited zoos and aquariums are places that millions of people visit per year to see and learn about animals. Accredited zoos and aquariums both entertain and give knowledge to all ages about animals. Zoos that are categorized as “accredited’ means the zoo or aquarium can run without harming the animals mentally or physically. Some people think that zoos and aquariums of any kind are harmful to the animals that lack their needs but they are beneficial and important to society. Zoos and aquariums provide the best medical attention and most skillful veterinarian there are. Veterinarians in zoos and aquariums are the most dedicated and loving to the animals they care for. Animals that are going extinct in the wild should be brought into zoos to be cared for and nurtured to prevent extinction. The article “Are zoos good or bad for animals?” by Jennifer Horton proves the point by saying “Successful breeding programs brought the Pere David’s deer from extinction.” The breeding programs at zoos already work, if these animals are being viewed while they repopulate then it will only expand research possibilities. Zoos serve an important role in helping animal populations stay at a constant rate. In the national Geographic Encyclopedic Entry on “zoological Park” it states that“Captive breeding of endangered species makes zoos valuable places for animal survival.” `Zoos are shown as important parts of communities and are important to many. Extinction is a problem that zoos can solve.
