Throughout time, Zoos have become a more popular thing. Whether for entertainment, or amusement, many people often visit zoos. What they fail to realize is that zoos are far more harmful than they appear to be. Although zoos do a great job at slightly imitating the animals habitat, it is very different in many aspects. The breeding programs zoos offer are less successful than what is expected.
Zoos, aquariums, and other animal parks are a place where many families go to enjoy time with each other and learn about animals they have never seen before. The parks seem friendly and all of the animals look so happy and healthy, but behind all of the laughter is the sad, unfair, and cruel lives these animals have. All animal captivity parks and zoos should be shut down because its a form of animal cruelty and it's dangerous for the workers, trainers, and the animals. Animal parks and zoos should be shut down because of the cruel way they treat their animals. Although conservation of endangered animals is very important, “Zoochosis’ and premature death due to captivity,” is just one example of the horrible things captivity does to animals(source
The Saint Louis Zoo reports in “Why Zoos Matter” states, “21% of the world’s mammal species and about 33% of all amphibian species are threatened by extinction”(Saint). According to conservation biologist, Andre Mader, a zoo is, “a unique opportunity to communicate an appreciation of nature to their visitors”(What). That collection is filled with a plethora of species ranging from tigers to elephants. Zoos are places that not only save animal but also teach the community ways to protect, nurture, and exhibit these animals. Zoos are appropriate for animals because they provide a safe place for animals to inhabit and reproduce fertile offspring while accommodating their talents.
Zoos Should Be Banned Imagine you are five years old, someone breaks into your home, kills your aunt and possibly your older brother in the process of kidnapping you. You are separated from your loved ones, leaving your mother in severe pain and grief. You are taken somewhere unknown, imprisoned in a cell where people come watch you for their own entertainment.
“They also say that zoo staff shows a lack of basic protection from harm for captive animals .Animals are being taken from zoos and harmed. Like in 2012 at the Tasmania Zoo in another country, nine birds were decapitated by individuals who broke into the zoo and also released sixty other animals who didn’t have a high chance of survival because they have been in a cage their whole life. We could stop all of this by not having animals in
The article “Are zoos good for animals?” shows the evidences about whether humans should keep wild animals in zoos. Actually, it is due to the fact that more and more zoos are built not only for their living standard but also human’s profit in our time and age. Therefore, the question is, though, are zoos really a good place for animals to be? We cannot deny that zoos play an important role in wildlife conservation. For one thing, the scientists are those who have more knowledge about animals.
A matter of considerable debate is animal rights, and whether zoo should be banned or encouraged, with numerous people claiming that zoos play the constructive role in the preservation of animals. However, I do not entirely accept this statement, will explain why in this essay. There are myriad of reasons to ban zoos, but the most conspicuous one is that zoos restrict the natural behavior of animals such as swimming, running, hunting, flying and like. This kind of captivity affects their mental and physical development, which can be seen in the form of negative and self-destructive behaviors. Addition to this, zoos do not provide them their natural habitat.
In the past, zoos have merely been animals in cages, but today we see animals facing real trouble in the wild and are brought to zoos for protection; the problem is that zoos are still being justified as a just and fair thing. Although raising animals in captivity is seen as raising animals in prisons, zoos prove to be very beneficial to many animals; zoos protect animals from extinction, animals raised in captivity outlast animals in the wild, and zoos today perform scientific studies to better aid the animals. Zoos and nature preserves help to protect animals from extinction.
Zoos continue to be controversial, even now that they have evolved into ‘animal parks’ or similar facilities. Most people love animals, and there are strong views on both sides, which I will discuss now. People opposed to zoos highlight the unnatural way in which animals live in such places. For example, captive animals do not need to hunt or raise offspring, and this means that they are not living as nature intended. Furthermore, the anti-zoo lobby point out that animals probably suffer mentally when kept in captivity, even if their surroundings are spacious and similar to the natural habitat.
Zoos have been able to keep certain species from complete and utter extinction. Zoos are they one way we can ensure that humanity won’t kill off everything for our own greed. They allow people see species that
Did you know that the zoo keepers help with animals not going extinct by breeding animals that face extinctions? Also, did you know that zoos teach kids and adults about the importance of respecting zoos and the animals? In my opinion I believe that animals should be kept in zoos. The purpose of this paper is to persuade that zoos are beneficial to animals. The focus of this paper is how zoos provide benefits, help with survival, and teach people.
Zoos Many people believe that zoos should be shut down, because they are just like animal prison. Many researches show that zoos should be shut down. Many reasons why are one animals should be left where they belong. Next, zoo’s have unsuitable climate and environment for the animals.
Zoos Zoos are keeping animals safe against hunters and other malicious animals. If it weren’t for zoos, thousands of animals would die because of bad habitats, starvation, poachers, and predators. These animals should be kept in zoos because it will md have died because of predators and hunters. Animals are being protected frost likely keep them safe.
To sum up, both articles provide evidence that zoos are improving over the years to serve their purpose more effectively. Constant development helps them to save more animals and at the same time show the results to the public which is crucial for inspiring people's participation in conservation programs. So, the two articles on the necessity of zoos are mostly similar as they express the same ideas. Both Cohn and Borrell provide arguments for the significance of zoos which contribute to animal conservation by conducting research, protecting endangered species, encouraging people to participate in conservation programs and forming their connection with the natural
