Serial killers are often your typical guy next door, the only thing that makes him different is the fantasies of murder (Davis, J. 1998). Many different practitioners of criminology, psychology, and sociology try to explain the phenomenon of serial murder. They come up with different typologies of serial killers and reasons in which the killer might commit murder. One typology is that of organized and disorganized serial killers. According to David Canter, an organized serial killer will have an orderly life as shown in his crimes while disorganized killers will kill due to a stressful event in life. He lured young boys with promises of money and food into his home where he raped and killed them (Impara, 2016). Due to the thought process that had to go into luring young boys into his home Shenatir would be considered by canter as an organized serial killer. In addition, because of his heinous crimes, Knight and Davis would consider Shenatir to be a sexual predator since he dominated his victims to sodomize them before ending their life. ZU Shenatir also fits three of the typologies given by Holmes and De Burger these types are the hedonistic, control, and predator type. Shenatir fits the hedonistic typology because he killed for pleasure and know he could get away with it. In addition, he fits the control typology because he had power over the victim and according to Holmes and De Burger control killers seek power over their victims. The last typology as given by Holmes and De burger that Zu fits is that of the predator. He fits this typology since he hunted his victims and killed them for a recreational purpose.
