WEEK 7 Response IRIKAA PILANIA ARC540_HUMAN CONTEXT The community is important, people create communities for themselves (clubs, fraternities etc.) buildings built for such purposes are later reused for some other purpose. One of the major element of this community is a learning network which achieved in form of school/ shops. The right setting for a child is the community itself, just as the right setting for an infant learning to speak in his own home.
The children in a school are valued, with an environment that fully encourages and celebrates their learning and progression and how they are developing. The provision of a safe and secure learning environment for all its pupils should be provided through recognizing the importance of welcoming diversity and equal opportunities. The atmosphere within a school should be positive, with this being reflected in the attitudes of the staff and pupils, all caring for and taking pride in their surroundings and in how the learning journey of each pupil takes
• There is a choking hazards, which could be any small part of the torch and to avoid that always check the AEL shelves and materials before the class starts to make sure the material is completed and ready to being use by children. • Have a black paper to make sure that the children use a specific wall covered with black paper to shine the torch rather than forcing the torch light into their own eyes or friends faces. The prepared environment provides a sense of security to the children, which leads them to interact creatively in this trusted environment where the teachers daily observe the shelves for a final check to making sure all the materials are functioning the correct way they are meant to be, in the correct order on the self
Meals; King George V encourage children to drink plenty of water and encourage the eating of fruit at break times. All children are encouraged to bring their own bottle of water into school daily. Key Stage 1 children receive a piece of fresh fruit daily provided by the DfE free fruit scheme. Sweets are not allowed in school unless given out by the teacher for a special occasion. Children are not allowed to eat chocolate bars or sweets.
Similarly, Capturing Kids' Hearts highlights how important it is to create a safe and caring classroom environment by developing
Within the school environment, there will be a variety of children and adults. Each child and adult will differ from the other. Some will come from different backgrounds, speak different languages and some may have additional educational needs or impairments. Children and adults from different backgrounds may speak a different language to the majority of the people in the school. Sometimes they may have English as a second language but some may only have their first language.
Explain the factors that need to be taken into account when assessing development: When assign children and young people sensitivity and accuracy needs to be taken into account. The following factors have to be considered: • Confidentiality It is usual and best practice to receive permission/consent from the parents/carers allowing you to carryout an observation on their child. Most parents consent to this but they usually do not want other parents or people that have no involvement with their child reading any reports. It is important not to leave any notes or records where they might be seen by others.
The key factors that provide a supportive speech, language and communication environments are – The physical environment is very important when creating a safe and secure setting that can support each child’s or young person’s individual learning needs and development to the best of their ability. The physical environments factors can include: • Noise levels • Lighting • Space • Distractions • Clear routines • Relaxes atmosphere • Adapted room and resources • Familiarity • Visual support aids. The roles and responsibilities of staff is that we should all understand our own roles and others carrying them out to the best of our abilities within the setting. in my setting at Grove Primary School, we make sure we can provide children and young people with their own key worker and they will have set activities and resources where their key worker will work alongside the child or group of children.
In “From the Frying Pan into the Fire”, Arlie Russell Hochschild stated, “Capitalism is not, then, simply a system in the service of the family and community; it competes with the family” (188). People struggle using the capitalism system to balance time between family and work, because time is limited and people do not want to waste it living in someone else’s life. This can make capitalism to be somewhat ‘selfish’, because it focuses to how oneself’s own happiness and successfulness comes first; similar to how in “Strange Creatures”, Susan Blackmore describes memes to be ‘selfish’, since their sole purpose is to be copied, spread, and to be successful without a care on how it will affect us. There is other instances that capitalism and memes are further continued on to be compared in their similarities, one being how capitalism spreads similar to how memes spreads. To illustrate, capitalism
Within the school environment the ethos of the school should be noticed upon entering and the daily performance of the staff and pupils who attend and work for the school. All the staff that work in the environment have an important responsibly when it comes to children as children and young people are influenced by the behaviour they see from their role models, which can be teachers, family members and friends and teaching assistants such as myself. They are influenced by not just my behaviour but every adult within the setting, so everyone needs to make sure that they are not displaying negative behaviour or displaying a negative way of dealing with certain people or incidents involving others, otherwise this could affect other younger children
This social-emotional classroom is broken down into three different spaces, kindness campground, bright-side beach, and merry mountain. Bright-Side Beach is equipped with three single person tents filled with pillows, stuffed animals, and blankets that allow students to have a personal space to calm their bodies in until they are able to maintain a safe body along with safe words. Merry Mountain is equipped with an endless amount of books categorized into different feelings. This allows students to self-identify their emotions and educate themselves on strategies regarding their emotions. Kindness Campground allows a cozy spot for children to unwind and express their feelings to the social-emotional teacher.
The two main components of a classroom community are the physical environment and the emotional environment; both of which need to be built over the course of a school year. We will spend the first six weeks setting up rules, goals, and the physical classroom space through a variety of academic and social lessons. The rest of the year will focus on creating and maintaining the emotional environment so that our classroom fosters cooperation, kindness and friendship. These lessons will be taught through activities such as, read aloud, icebreakers, team builders and reflective writings.
The project had the added advantage of providing an opportunity for children to apply and use what they are learning as they solve problems and share what they know. It provides opportunities for developing group skills such as working with others and challenges children to think, which supports brain development. Children become socially responsible and show respect for the environment, they develop an awareness of the impact of human activity on environments and the interdependence of living things. ( DEEWR,
As a teacher, it is my responsibility to share information on the development of the child and have a clear and constant flow of dialogue with the family. This will enable both parties to deal with any issues that may arise within the family, school or community. It also my belief that parents should have an active part in their child’s learning and be able to lend a hand whenever necessary, and having open communication with them will allow this transparency and connection between home and school. The community is vital in ensuring that the facilities around the community and school is appropriate for the different children and families to live in and grow. A very good example of this successful collaboration is the Reggio Emilia approach in Italy.
