In a Beacon School, located in NYC, two-tenth - graders were seriously injured, leaving a boy with critical burns and another student with fewer server burns from her neck, head, and arm. Anna Peole, chemistry teacher was showing a “demonstration of rainbow flames” which will result burning of 4 different kinds of nitrates in separate crucibles in the classroom. However, the unstable amount of methyl alcohol hazes around the chemistry lab and explodes across the lab table surrounding Alonzo Yanes, a sophomore at the Beacon School. Alonzo Yanes was standing a few feet away from the lab table, where the crucibles were.
In the academic year of 2011-2012, I was responsible for increasing the percentage pass of the Living Environment by 10% at the World Academy for Total Community Health High school. The Living Environment Regents pass rate was 47% in 2010-2011. To achieve the goal, I examined the Item Analysis for the January 2012 Living Environment Regents. In summary, the students were only able to master 12 out of 85 questions.
The risk of electrical hazard will increase if combustible materials are used and the protection method is to install fire protection equipment, such as the water spray system. The other hazard of the electrical hazard is the high power lines. Since there are a large number of high electricity machines (generators) that are used in the power station, the risk of electric shock should be noticed. Workers should wear insulating clothes when operate electrical parts and electricity protector should be
The children in a school are valued, with an environment that fully encourages and celebrates their learning and progression and how they are developing. The provision of a safe and secure learning environment for all its pupils should be provided through recognizing the importance of welcoming diversity and equal opportunities. The atmosphere within a school should be positive, with this being reflected in the attitudes of the staff and pupils, all caring for and taking pride in their surroundings and in how the learning journey of each pupil takes
“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘ I lived through this horror I can take the next thing that comes along.” - elanor roosevelt. The novel In The Time of Butterflies, transpires during the time of the Trujillo rebellion in the Dominican Republic. As a whole, this story is an example of courage, and exemplifies this through the actions of the Mirabal sisters.
At the onset, it is hard to presume that your child has whooping cough or pertussis. The indicators for it are very like a dry coughing combined with cold and runny nose. But usually in the second week of your youngster 's coughing and you see that she does so approximately 8 times in one breath, and she barely sleeps at night and whoops to take her breath; then you realize it is time to see a medical professional. This sort of coughing can last for weeks and can be contacted by a caregiver or a relative who 's physically close to the patient.
Meals; King George V encourage children to drink plenty of water and encourage the eating of fruit at break times. All children are encouraged to bring their own bottle of water into school daily. Key Stage 1 children receive a piece of fresh fruit daily provided by the DfE free fruit scheme. Sweets are not allowed in school unless given out by the teacher for a special occasion. Children are not allowed to eat chocolate bars or sweets.
Working within our school setting  we work in an open and transparent manor This includes ensuring , all doors have glass panels in or be left open so that we can be seen as we teach, this is set in place to discourage any false allegations of occurrences of abuse as it can be disproved and can also protect teachers them self from having abuse. By doing so we are allowing open teaching which can dissolve any accusations made by either students or staff. Listening to children-  All staff members to ensure they make time to listen to their pupils as it could raise concern regarding the child’s welfare as when a child is willing to speak and feels comfortable and safe enough to open up it is the staffs duty to ensure this child is listened to and taken seriously.
Any professional working with children or young people is responsible for the care and well being of those children. Making sure that a child is safe on or out of a school setting is of paramount importance. Not only does it make a child or young person feel safe in a learning environment but it also gives the child the security to develop and achieve from an early age. For children to be effectively protected, it is essential that everyone accepts the responsibility of their role and to also be protected in that role. E.g. when escorting a child to the toilet or a child needs to be undressed due to any accident, it is vital that another member of staff or child is present as to not allow any allegations of misconduct.
The Enlighten period was before the French Revolution (1798). Enlightenment thinkers had optimistic views about individual rights, human perfectibility, and social progress. These thinkers believed people needed social organizations such as government, community, religions, towns, and so on because without these organizations social order would be lost. Philosopher Montesquieu shared that laws, customs, and forms of government weren’t natural, but influenced but the external conditions in surroundings which certain people must live. Marx argued that species-beings are influenced by the ruling class control over the means of production.
Safety My plan for maintaining a safe environment would be to make sure there are fire extinguishers that are in working condition. There also needs to be a carbon monoxide/smoke detector. Along with that the staff and children that work there should know the emergency procedures for every natural disaster or problems that may happen.
In Reggio Emilia approach, there are many strengths as it supports children that a child’s image is viewed as having rights and not just needs and child has been viewed as beautiful, competent, powerful, curious, creative as well as full of ambitious desires and potentials. In addition, it supports children’s individual differences and needs, documentation that Reggio teachers collect about their students and a mix of long- and short term projects which provide students with a deeper understanding of the subject matter. While the strength in Montessori curriculum is children are 5 prepared for the real world, where they work side by side with people of all ages, they develop self-discipline, independence and analytical thinking, all materials in a Montessori classroom have a proper place, and it is the responsibility of each student to properly store their materials when they are done to maintain order, independence is greatly emphasized and focuses on individual intelligences. The weakness point in Montessori and Reggio Emilia Curriculum: There are some weakness point in Reggio Emilia approach such as this approach puts a lot of emphasis on the importance of large space as is considered educational, Reggio Emilia schools are found in wealthy countries and are attended by children from wealthy families while the poor cannot opt for the Reggio Emilia approach, public schools get limited funding while private schools mostly focus on results and not process and also the
U1 AC 2.1 - Explain ways to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment. A number of ways to establish a safe and supportive learning environment is to stay within what is deemed as conventional rules and disciplines. A typical class room layout is rows of desks and chairs facing the front, it is the usual expected layout for learners and encourages them to accept conformity, something as simple as sitting on the chairs facing the front of the classroom is reassuring to the majority that the class is safe. In days of yesteryear the students would be expected to stand up when the teacher entered the room and wait for permission to be seated, thankfully those days are in the distant past and now it is acceptable to remain talking until the teacher is ready to begin class.
I am confident that after my presentation was over everyone in the class would be able to make their own lava lamp. Firstly, my introduction went very well. I believe I was able to draw them in by relating to them while also gaining credibility. To start off, I tried to relate the project to them.
As well, this study is also important because it could affect the manufacturing of the candles, in terms of amount of materials and dyes that should be added to the candles, especially from safety and environment perspectives. Evaluation: Limitation How This Limitation Affected Your Results Realistic Improvements The height of the candle used in the experiment was relatively small, which made the measuring process challenging.
