Today, big movies like “Taken” had made an impact on today’s life about the extent a father’s love would go. In the 1940’s, a major motion picture that left an impact on their everyday life were movies like, “Yankee Doodle Dandy”, “Why We Fight”, and “Victory through the Air”. These movies had an effect on people in the 1940’s because it was a time of a terrible war. World War II was the biggest muse for television, movies, and theatre in the 1940’s.

Movies suddenly had an affect on people by being about wars, combat, and bravery. There were also comedies like “The Three Stooges” which provided comic relief to everyone. Since almost every male was drafted overseas for the war, by 1944 over half of the United States working population were women. Also, in 1947, the first test for televisions came to America into the everyday family home.

By the time World War II ended over 50 million people worldwide died over the conflict. Daniel F. Zanuck, head of production at 20th century Fox, left Hollywood along with 2,700 other employees who joined the armed forces.Over 35 wartime movies were made during the World War. Many celebrities and directors volunteered to risk their lives to make combat documentaries. The government saw the impact that movies had on citizens so they made a special organization for propaganda in films. The organization was called the Bureau of Motion Pictures (BMP) and sometimes they rewrote dialogue or requested script changes. Television and cinema clearly was impacted by World War II in the 1940’s. World War II is still considered the deadliest conflict to today. Movies from that time era are still popular today like “Cassablanca”.
