Did you know that there is still a modern form of slavery? For example. there are horrible prison camps in North Korea. One of these camps is called Camp 14. These prison camps are much like what slavery was like in the antebellum South.

As modern Americans think about how lucky we are in some situations and problems. Because for some people, there is or was not any such as luck or escape from the situations and problems like we have today. For them, they don’t have any choice for education and freedom.
Freedom Summer, or the Mississippi Summer Project, was a volunteer campaign launched in June 1964 to attempt to register as many African-American voters as possible in Mississippi, which had historically excluded most blacks from voting. The project also set up dozens of Freedom Schools throughout Mississippi to aid the local black population. The projects leadership and funding came from the SNCC and COFO, along with hundreds of white college students in the north. In 1963, the SNCC organized a mock vote for blacks, which gave them a chance to prove they were capable of understanding politics. The civil rights activists from both organizations and the white volunteers from the north faced many challenges during the campaign.
In 1852, famous abolitionist Douglas spoke eloquently about how the slaves felt about the 4th of July: it was quite an irony. We celebrate 4th of July because it was the day the United states of America became an independent nation. We also celebrate that day because it was the day the Declaration of Independence was signed. Everyone in America is blessed. We have freedom because of the military.

Many white women worked in Freedom Schools established by SNCC, because of the danger they would have faced working in the field. Freedom schools were originally established to teach African American high school students lessons in history and other subjects, because the education they received from public schools was not very good. They originally had a curriculum, but it was hard to follow. SNCC volunteers were not teachers and did not know about every topic. One staff member said to the volunteers, “You’ll meet on someone’s lawn under a tree.
Child labor was a major issue that had carried out for centuries. These laborious children worked tirelessly day by day and eventually needed saving from this horrendous lifestyle. The people who answered this cry for help were known as reformers, who began their take of charge in the late 1800’s. They were the first to give the children a fighting chance against the back-breaking labor industry by using various methods and techniques. Reformers made an impact to end child labor in the early 1900’s by forming organizations, organizing strikes, and by unveiling the issues of child labor to the public.
