Hopefully I learned and understood and am able to apply that information and hopefully my grade reflects that. On a scale of 85 to 100, I honestly can’t pick a number. Maybe something even. But then again I am a little
When I joined AVID in seventh grade I was amazed how AVID works and how it can be used every day. Not only AVID helps you with your grades, but it also helps you to be more organized and a hard-working student. AVID helped me discover my full potential by showing me that I can always do better. What I mean by this is that in sixth grade I was not in AVID, I made all A’s and B’s. In seventh grade when I was in AVID, I made all A’s.
What insights have I gained about research from taking this course? The insights I have achieved, there are different methods in constructing a research study I understand more in doing a research exploration, my mentor kept asking me if I had completed the research required for projects for my classroom. I did not understand what was a real research study or someone writing a story from their experiences. I now understand how to look for research studies conducted by researchers.
I am very thankful for the opportunity to intern at the Waterfront Public School and having the chance to work with two very different students with DD. This experience gave me a better understanding of how the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) employs DSWs and how they value our role within their classrooms. I was fortunate enough to work with a collaborative team of staff that encouraged my professional growth by allowing me to assess and implement new teaching strategies. This team also provided me with much needed feedback and criticism along the way, which I valued and learned from. In addition, this education support placement allowed me to fulfill many performance elements related to learning outcome seven of the DSW Program Manual.
Of course I am not trying to make up excuses on why I did so poorly, throughout this semester I have been dealing with my own internal problems and also illnesses. I have been dealing with family problems such as, potential divorces and differences in the family that have been arising
Why knowledge should be your whole grade is because if you don't know how to do it then you don't understand it right so effort is you don't know but you tried that's not enough that shouldn’t even be a grade effort is like just completing something and getting it back , getting a 0% but u still tried right you completed it so you get a 100% that's not what students should be graded on that's just a pure waste of
At the beginning of this semester as I started the MFCC program I felt scared and intimidated. I felt intimidated because I had no idea what to expect from the program. Once I learned what fishbowl was the thought of doing fish bowl frightened me. Just thinking of how I would get criticized and having people looking at me gives me anxiety.
I really appreciated this chapter because it address the problems students of lower SES deal with. While I have never been a full-time teacher in a public shcool setting, where there is a diverse mix of students, I have been apart of several education programs and witnessed the differences between students of lower and higher SES. I used to work in Harlem, NY at an afterschool program for the city so all the public school students attended and it was in a very low SES neighborhood. Although they only spend the afternoons with me I could see the learned helplessness the chapter speaks about when they would attempt to do homework. The students were asking for help and saying they could not do it before they even took their books out.
In addition, my partner didn’t follow the four weeks plan we put, and he wasn’t ready even three days before the presentation, which I considered according to the plan a day of a very final review for practicing presenting. Due to this reason and due to this presentation being a considerable portion of my grade, I took a risky decision to miss a class before the presentation (11/27/2017), and I will talk about that class in the participation section. Although the professor said that his grade and work would not affect my grade, however, it did affect which I was expecting despite what the professor stated. I accepted the fact that the presentation in whole and as one piece did not look good. That’s why I took the
I saw learning intentions and success criteria posted on the board. I saw candidate use the white board to model the work through of several ratio and proportion math problems, whole class activity. Although, many students were off task, I did observe candidate address at least 2 students off task students, one for throwing a calculator and another for the use of profanity. I saw a smart board in the room, but it was not in use. I observed candidate continuously move around the room to provide support to students who needed it.
The concept of this grading method is based on the students understanding and how they demonstrate it. If they have a full understanding and can demonstrate they’ll get an A if not then the grade will go down based on how much of an understanding the student demonstrates. However, with this grading system, a student can learn what exactly a teacher is wanting to read or see, and they focus on those elements without focusing on the whole lesson (493). As a student myself there are many times that I look back on my education and can say I fell into the habit of learning what each teacher was looking for and only focusing on those elements. Although I was learning everything I should have been, I was learning some important aspects of the subject being taught.
Gilman gave me a more in depth position on mental health, and reading her story, I have been able to think and reflect on the needs that are important to every living person. I remember how my mother would tell me to make sure I eat and rest well when I am away from home. I would follow her instructions but I would forget about my own mental health. I honestly did not see the importance of it until this year.
In the end, I won second place in my High School. As stated before, I found it troubling that I could not take all of the challenging classes I wanted to because of scheduling conflicts and miscommunications.
Overall, I was pleased with my results because I received a noteworthy
I don’t believe that knowledge should be given a grade, every individual learns differently and at their pace. Grades usually don’t reflect the learning or effort of the student. List the classes in which you earned your highest grades. What do these classes have in common? Why did you do so well in these classes?
