I am interested in attending the Marist Criminal Justice summer program because I want to learn more about the many careers in the criminal justice field. A criminal justice-related career is typically displayed on television on shows like “Bones” and “NCIS.” These shows probably do not accurately portray what a job in the criminal justice field is really like because they are meant for entertainment. I’m hoping to learn more about the realistic side of criminal justice in the Marist program. What interests me the most in this field is Forensic Science, the process of solving the crime and how forensic scientists and all of the other law enforcement agencies work together.

There are also other voluntary certifications that can help the investigator obtain work with certain types of defense attorneys depending on the lawyer's specialization.
Forensic Science is the career field I am interested in. I would enjoy being a forensic science technician because of my interest in mysteries and figuring things out. This career choice is the right choice for me because I would only need a Bachelor’s degree, it would be work I enjoy doing, and I would make an exceptional salary. Forensic science technicians aid investigations by collecting and testing evidence. Many technicians spend time either in a laboratory or on the field in crime scene investigation.
The thing I want to do when I complete college is to be a parole officer. A parole officer job supervise criminal offenders who have been released from prison. They monitor parolees, help them find suitable living arrangements and meet with assigned parolees regularly. To be able to compete in this career field I have to earn a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, psychology, or social work. After completing 4 years of college I will have to complete a series classes that cover correctional strategies, forensics, legal research, criminal psychology and offender rehabilitation.
The Way Around the Crime Scene Imagine if someone was a Forensic Science Technician, and was called out to be able to put the pieces together of what may have happened at a crime scene. Where the details may cause them to have to be grueling over work for hours just trying to figure out what happened, and who committed the crime. There are various skills that one needs to have in order to be considered an expert in Forensic Science Technician. When you get hired you go through hands-on training, that is with someone that is experienced in the field, through experience is when you learn more knowledge and before you are allied to work in independent cases, one is sometimes required to take an exam depending on the jurisdiction of where one is

As a Probation and Parole Officer, my duties is to enforce the law but primary is to help individuals with social resources so they can become productive member of society. Probation and Parole Officer should communicate with other law enforcement officer to gain information or gain more detail about the person that the Probation Officer is supervising. Police Officers serve an integral role in the criminal justice system, and their duty is to arrest individuals and bring them up on charges. If the individual is adjudicated in court, then the individual enters the Delaware Correctional system. Every individual will be placed in their correct supervision level as set forth by SENTAC and sentencing order.
Probation Officers Probation Officers watch over and work with people who have been convicted of crimes, but were not sentenced to jail time. Instead of going to jail, the criminals/offenders are given a probationary time where they must obey everything set forth by the judge. If you wish to become a Probation Officer there are many things you must do to achieve your goal. To become a Probation Officer you must have a college degree. It is also required that you have at least 4 years of college education.
The life of a homicide detective is not as glamorous as TV shows portray it to be. Becoming a homicide detective takes time. The minimum education requirement is at least a bachelor’s degree. Criminal justice is the recommended career field. After you meet the education requirements you must go through a police academy or other training institution before you are eligible to work.
There are many benefits for this job. One benefit would be that you get to play an important role in helping convicted criminals get back to society. Another benefit would be that there are plenty of opportunities to become a Probation Officer as long as you put in the work to do so. Then you can advance to better and higher ranked jobs as you progress.
Summary: Probation is a sentence given to offenders for a lighter punishment; allowing them to reside in their residents, work but also have a curfew along with other rules and requirements. The role of a probation officer is to be a law enforcer and social worker. They are too supervise the offender to make sure they are reaching the goals and providing this resources to develop. Work release programs are also available to offenders, this gives them the opportunity to be in a secure location but also time to earn income to provide for their families. Parole provides current inmates a chance to finish their sentence outside of the penitentiary.
In the criminal justice system, the corrections component is also responsible for the rehabilitation of the convicted individual. It is their duty to attempt to make the defendant a productive member of society once again. Based on the individual’s behavior while incarcerated, the court and corrections officials may decide to place them on parole, which ensures that the individual will comply with the rules of society once they are fully released from the system. The criminal justice system is an essential role in the organizational structure of not only the United States but also in countries around the world. If there were no criminal justice system to administer punishment, the world would be unstructured, disorganized, unjustified, cruel, and not to mention a chaotic place for it citizens.
Brionne Young ENGL 3107 Dr. H. Williams 02/05/2018 Career as a Criminal Investigator Becoming a criminal investigator requires determination, passion, and dedication for ones’ work. My desire is to become a criminal investigator. I have been working towards this goal for about four years now. I began my quest at Middle Tennessee State University and will be completing it at Tennessee State University. I do recognize that obtaining a bachelor’s degree is not the only prerequisite for becoming a criminal investigator.
Crime has been at its highest this year. Forensic science has played a major part in investigating crimes and searching for evidence that is not seen by the naked eye(Dillon). The field of forensics is continually growing, causes of death have become more interesting, autopsies are more critical, and the salary is appreciable(Gewin). Since there are only 18 forensic science undergraduate programs in the US that have been authorized by the American Academy of Forensic Science, my prospective college choices are limited. After tackling the time it will take to earn my bachelors in forensics(4 years), then finish medical school and four years of residency, it will eventually all be worth the wait.
