No matter how much people like to act that mental health care is adequately given the resources that are required, it is not. The picture that I found on a website called cartoon movement depicts a mentally ill man sitting on the ground, struggling and trying to raise money for better mental health care services. However, only one person is seen putting a penny in the bucket, showing why mental health care services are not provided as they are needed today. The picture, published in 2011 and created by Angelo Lopez, is a real eye opener and shows people how much of an issue mental health care is in society. Mental health will never begin to improve if there are never any better resources for it and people will continue to struggle with controlling their emotions. This picture has many pathos appeals. The paper makes you feel a series of emotions and turmoil which is hard to handle all at once. There is sadness because this poor man is not getting the help he needs. There’s sympathy because you want to help but you don’t know how. There’s darkness because there is a sense of hopelessness surrounding what is to come for mental health. Some of the ethos and pathos appeals overlap. For example, wanting to help someone because of sympathetic feelings for them, but also because that’s what you were raised to do when you see someone in need. Another ethos appeal that is not very prominent but important is donating money to good causes instead of spending it on unnecessary items, such as video games. While many people do not think this way, if they did, society would not struggle with supporting mental health and improving it as much as they do today. While this isn’t going to be a quick fix, building something up little by little is better than tearing it down even more. It may cost quite a bit of money, but in the long run, the logistics don’t
