In the introduction of my speech, I started by gaining the audience’s attention by playing with their emotions and making them close their eyes rather than just stare and pretend like they are listening. Some of the audience members did not follow through with the attention step, so I could have made it a little more interesting to where they wanted to close their eyes and participate. I hit all the parts of my introduction getting them to focus on the issue and why it is important. My main goal was to get the audience intrigued with the topic and want to listen to how bad the problem was and solution. All together for the introduction, I think I set it up well. In the body, I managed to hit all my step even if I forgot some of the information. Through my best attempts, I wanted to fit my missing information into the speech without it being noticeable to the audience. Pathos prevailed more in my speech than ethos. I used pathos as my main reasoning and my agenda was to appeal to their emotions. I purposefully put in stories that made the audience want to cry and I established the emotion in my voice as well. It seemed only fitting to bring down the audience’s emotions considering the topic. Logos also played a role in persuading the audience. The biggest one being the cancer treatment center study. Although I almost forgot the information, it put the results into perspective and held true to the United States statistics for how often the certain palliative care is utilized. I was missing one visual aid for my speech which doubled as methos. I added the picture of the doctor to help the audience realize some doctors want this care option around and are fighting for that right. I could have used methos more effectively if I would have presented photos of terminal patients with and without this treatment
