The genre that was created for the final project is the most powerful tool for communication that we have today, the website. Websites can be used for personal, commercial, government, news or educational purposes. One site is usually dedicated to once specific subject or purpose. There are many key elements that can be incorporated into the website like pictures, video, or links to other websites. This format was used for the fact that a website can be set up to provide the exact information that is needed in the presentation. All websites need to be well-designed so that the users are able to navigate promptly to find the information that interests them the most. The logos appeal was used in the website by informing the reader the statistics on how much money someone could save by doing their own maintenance on their car. Citing factual data about how often certain maintenance on a car needs to be done regularly also applies to logos. Citations from car experts were used to help with the credibility of the website. Creating a website that deals with fixing something is a way to appeal to ethos. The website informs the user how experienced the person is doing the process. It was also helpful to use a professional mechanic’s ideas to back up the how the process is done. The rhetorical appeal of pathos won’t be something the website will be focused on. We thought about using a life example of fixing my car for the 1st time and express the sense of accomplishment that was felt afterwards, but decided to keep the website professional, not personal. The appeal to kairos is somewhat relevant. How to do maintenance on a car is important in this time period. People have to pay a lot for a mortgage, insurance, gas, and other life expenses. So by showing them how to do something themselves, it could save them money that they can use for other things. The telos appeal was used by using speech that is precise and accurate. The audience that will be using the informative website will want step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow and
