Genre is a type of writing that has its specific form and style. In this kind of genre, advertisement, it is usually trying to convince or persuade others to doing something. Advertisement usually use repetition for example repeating questions. They constantly use ethos, pathos, and logos. They also use many different kinds of imagery.
In advertisements, we usually see ethos through celebrities. This happens when a famous celebrity shows up in the commercial to use a product or tell us, the audience that the product is a great thing. Advertisements rely pathos to affect people, especially through the use of humor. Humorous advertisements give us pleased emotions that can cause us to have positive feelings about the product itself. Most advertisement use logos to convince us to buy a product. I wanted to make it short and simple like many advertisements are. The audience I wanted to focus on was people with bad breath or to people that know of someone with bad breath so they can pass on the message. In my writing I wasn’t trying to sell but mostly inform the audience about bad breath and ways to solve it. What I had to learn about genre in general is that little things matter. The use of words and sayings have to be a certain way in order to accomplish the genre you are trying to use. With this genre specifically I had to learn how to even start it off. While creating the mock piece I had to change the format a couple of times. I also had to look at other advertisements to get an idea on how to create mine. I saw that many advertisment poster didn't have much on the poster. They were pretty short, most just used images and short sayings. Going off the posters I seen, I thought to create something simple, not trying to make it
