National identity can be described as the sense of belonging to one’s nation, it’s the

ability to feel part of a whole community with people who share common values and

cultures. According to historian GraemeTurner, he theorizes that a sense of national

identity is created through the use of national symbolism in media outlets such as films,

movies, advertisements, music and political speeches. Today Australian national identity is

symbolized through the early accounts of the bushman, convict settlers, and aboriginal

people. All of these symbols are distinctive in Australian media and serve to emphasize

Australia’s earliest cultural beginnings.
