The article I chose discusses how in today’s society the things that are most important to people are material items such as what they buy and have. The twenty first century is filled with new gadgets that are turning our youth into spoiled brats. Kids, and some adults, are more concerned with tweeting their daily activities and complaining about things on Facebook than making true friends in the real world. They live in a digital world with endless wants and needs that all require money. They need to leave the tech behind and invest a little more time living in the real world.
The author of “A short Opinion”, Gingergirl423, brings attention to a pressing issue in today’s society. She uses powerful cause and effect analysis such as how money turns …show more content…

She also uses examples that we can all identify with such as tweeting and going on Facebook. These are key techniques when writing a persuasive piece. Lastly, the way she connects kid’s lives to a hard drive enforces her argument of kids being tied down by technology. Gingergirl includes some successful persuasive techniques in her very short piece.
Although this argument touches upon a critical problem in today’s society, it is not adequately supported. This piece lacks statistical facts in support of her supposition. She mentions kids not having respect for their parents and being sucked into the digital world, but provides no statistics on how many kids this represents.
