These APPE sites expose students to innovative healthcare delivery systems and treatment protocols. The majority of the sites are located in various areas of California, representing various segments of the general society, including medically underserved areas. Throughout the APPE curriculum, students will be exposed to diverse patient populations. Students will be expected to deliver evidence-based care to patients of diverse cultural, economic, geographic, and/or disease state-related backgrounds. Most APPE rotations will have a focus on interprofessional interaction and practice. This course solidifies all of the previous knowledge and skills from both the didactic and experiential curricula. Students will participate in activities utilizing patient cases that they develop over the course of their APPE rotations. Weekly discussions will draw upon previously learned, as well as new knowledge, highlighting their professional growth and insight in direct patient care. Group and individual active learning exercises, discussions, mini-lectures and Q&A will revolve around the changing and evolving patient(s). Students will be given the opportunity to show case their research projects and present a formal reflection on their comprehensive educational experience. Board review activities such as reviewing contemporary practice strategies and law will assist the student in preparing for the licensure examination and entrance into the profession.
The Assistant Dean for Pharmacy and Industry Relations, Director of Experiential Education, IPPE Intern Coordinator and OEE administrative assistant received training in using E*Value. The OEE is using the system to optimize the scheduling of IPPE and APPE
