Introduction
In this case study we will be analyzing the Triple Aim Initiative. An initiative formed in October of 2007, by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). This initiative was aimed to help improve healthcare organizations, patients’ experience of care (quality, access, and reliability) and lowering or reducing the per capita cost of care (Douglas McCarthy, 2010).
Overview
Three healthcare organizations were the focus for this study: Care Oregon: Transforming Medicaid Health Plan from Payer to Partner, Genesys Health System: Primary Care Based Delivery System, Integrated Self-Management support and Community Partnership, and Quad Med: Transforming Employer Sponsored Healthcare through Workplace Primary Care and Wellness Programs. …show more content…

However, technology will facilitate an ease of knowing and allow individuals and their health care professionals to have a comprehensive view of their health. Which includes but not limited to; individual, community, and environmental aspects of health, and to use this information in developing and executing personalized care plans. (Stee E. The Triple Aim has provided society with a compass, pointing towards our health care system. Focusing on the positive engagement, rather than the negative frustration, of the health care workforce, is extremely important in achieving the primary goal of the Triple Aim. Leaders and providers of health care should consider adding a fourth dimension; improving the work life of those who deliver care. (Bodenheimer & Sinsky, 2014)
Professional Implications
The Triple Aim absolutely connects interprofessional healthcare teams to the efforts of better healthcare services that would eventually lead to the improvement of health outcomes. This review of the interprofessional education (IPE) and collaborative practice, focused on the impact of this area of inquiry on the outcomes identified in the Triple Aim (Barnet & Lutfiyya, 2014).
