During my Semester with Adult Protective Services I was able to gain an insightful meaning to competencies that are required of me throughout this learning experience. I was capable in relating competencies with Field Practitioners as well as policies and procedures on a micro level. During my time with Adult Protective Services Specialists, I had the privilege to observe Ethical and Professional Behaviors by witnessing Investigations on abuse, neglect and exploitation. I was able to observe the professionalism of the Specialist assigned to the cases and how they made decisions with clients based off ethics and policies in place by APS. With APS they have data reports done yearly based on caseloads throughout the regions to broken down statistics on perpetrators on the elderly and disabled. Because of the research collected, APS is able to align regions on case assignments and able to go out in communities to educate people on abuse, neglect and exploitation. APS does have an Ethics handbook that states their policy practices and I observed many Investigators interact with clients through these practices and to get a better understanding of these practices influence the workers in every assignment. An example would be a client who has capacity and decides to live in less cleanliness circumstances, as a case worker/ social; worker, the client has the right to live in whatever way they choose, as long as they are putting themselves in life threating environments and they refuse interventions like cleaning services or provider services we have to accept that. Engaging with Individuals, families, group's organizations, and communities is a competency I was really involved with this
