Every teacher wants the best learning environment for their students. This ensures that the student learns well and has the best school experience. My main argument argues that for the best way for a school to eliminate problems and promote positive behavior, the school needs to use the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. This system’s procedure and results make it a better system to use than the American School Counselor Association’s system. In my paper I used data to back up my reasoning for using the PBIS instead of the ASCA. The PBIS system, used in 22,000 schools, has had positive reports and feedback resulting in long term changes. These schools have also reported positive outcomes after implementing the program. I also wrote about a school that used the program and recorded their data using the PBIS system. This evidence proves that the system has benefits because schools that have used it have reported that it produces very good outcomes. Data has proven that school counselors and teachers alone cannot fix a lot of the behavior problems in schools. Two of the biggest problems in school counseling programs, support and funding, need to be resolved.Behavior intervention programs can provide this support and funding. Without those two items, the school does not have enough counselors for the amount of students in the school, which means most students’ problems are not dealt with. Two options that a school has include the PBIS or the ASCA.
