Positive Behavior Support (PBS) or PBiS can give us as teachers is based on understanding why problem behaviors occur - the behavior's function. This school wide approach is to celebrate student successes as a whole, in classrooms, and individual students. As a team we will brain storm ideas of researched based strategies to increase academic performance, increase safety, decrease problem behavior, and establish positive school cultures.
Discipline data is input by our ISS teacher into TERMS. Disciplines have different codes and is tracked by the code. Our data is shown on the next slide.
As you can see the data has more than doubled. This is why PBS is so important and a concern form our administration. We have the PBS forms for a reason. (referring to the PBS form administration has already asked the teachers to fill out before a discipline referral is written. There could be many reasons why this is, but the fact is that the data reports this is an area that we as school should be addressing.
This data show the percentage on students with 0-1 referral to the % of repeat offender students. Students with 2-5 referrals and the 6 or more referrals. We have to look at the sctudents who are the repeat offenders. We are here because we believe in Challenger and our students, our kids. We as a team need to promote PBS. We have CHOMP awards, let use them. Lets get teachers excited to recognize students on a school wide scale. I know many teachers have classroom PBS incentives, lets show those students off to the school. Lets recognize our teachers that go above and beyond the expectations. Being on the team you can promote PBS with students and teachers, have input and help organize a school wide initiative.
