Planned Parenthood v. Casey was a Supreme Court case that originated in the area of Southeastern Pennsylvania when one of these nationwide organizations, Planned Parenthood, decided to argue against the limitations put into place regarding abortion by Governor Robert P. Casey stating that they violated the laws established in Roe v. Wade (“Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v. Casey”). The case began in the US District Court of Eastern Pennsylvania which declared all of the provisions to be unconstitutional; however, the State Court of Appeals reversed this decision claiming that all of the provisions except for spousal notification were constitutional. The case then arrived to the Supreme Court in 1991, and a final decision was
Numerous attempts have been made to define the term fetus. Scholars have attempted to use both biological and psychological aspects, some have gone further to outline characteristics and conditions that define a fetus (Garrett et al., 2011). Others have tied the developmental aspects related to viability, birth and conception. The United States Supreme Court definition provides an alternate decision. One might ask what exactly is Planned Parenthood. Several people are under the impression that this program only deals with abortion; but, this is wrong. Activist that support Planned Parenthood believe that it is the government’s responsibility to provide government aid to help assist the noninsured deal with the conflicts that are a result of giving birth. Planned Parenthood is a “nonprofit organization that does research into and gives advice on contraception, family planning, and reproductive problems,” (Planned Parenthood). The current government, though, does not want to continue to support this service and ultimately wants to defund it. Many U.S. citizens do not agree with this decision, making this debate very popular. This institution ensures Americans have access to a health care system for the unfortunate while still providing quality care. Although the media and numerous reports have brought up issues in regards to Planned Parenthood, many of the objections to the Institution is focused on one subject at hand and not the overall mission alone. The issues in regard to Planned Parenthood is the opposition that the government should not eliminate funding for this organization due to the abortion services provided. However, Planned Parenthood offers many other services that without this Institution many people would be without affordable quality health care.

The reconciliation bill, which will end taxpayer dollars going into Planned Parenthood, is a large step for pro-lifers.
