What I would like for people to realize is that Planned Parenthood is more that meets they eye. They are more than people give them credit for, and they are more than an abortion clinic. The services they provide range anywhere from sexual education and contraception education to helping with gender identity and sexual orientation, or from reproductive services to cancer screenings and STI testing and treatment. They services they provide are endless, and all equally important. As someone who has struggled with their sexual orientation and with self acceptance, if I had known that Planned Parenthood provided services such as these, I would have taken advantage of them and gotten the guidance that I needed.
Why Planned Parenthood Should not be Defunded by the Government “Trying to block women from getting access to contraception or defunding Planned Parenthood is completely nonsensical from a policy standpoint.” - Richard Carmona, american physician and nurse. This is exactly why Planned Parenthood should not be defunded. It offers many things from contraception, abortion, cancer screenings and preventions along with much more. Also, if they were to be defunded and abortions could no longer go on, many more unplanned pregnancies would happen and the cost of welfare would escalate a lot.
There are two very distinct sides that continuously argue over the funding for planned parent, both sides present very well organized arguments; however, there is pros and cons to both sides. One might ask what exactly is Planned Parenthood. Several people are under the impression that this program only deals with abortion; but, this is wrong. Activist that support Planned Parenthood believe that it is the government’s responsibility to provide government aid to help assist the noninsured deal with the conflicts that are a result of giving birth. Those who are against the government providing funds for to help the program Planned Parenthood, tend to be pro-life activist, who are against abortions.
After hearing these facts’, you can better understand what Planned Parenthood is and that they contribute way more help to are society then just abortions, and by offering these health benefits we would keep cutting back the number of unplanned pregnancies and that would cut back the number of
By understanding what planned parenthood’s missions and beliefs are, one is able to understand why the government should continue to fund this
Some people believe that planned parenthood should be shutdown. The main reason is because people believe that abortions are equivalent to the murder of an innocent child. Although people have their disagreements on whether or not planned parenthood should be shutdown, I believe that it is essential to women who need checkups for a low price, need condoms, birth control or abortions. Planned parent hood provides important health checkups such as cancer screening. In poor areas, planned parenthood is the only organization that allows women without health insurance to have checkups.
Alexis McGill Johnson is a passionate and dedicated woman with many talents. She is an American academic and social justice advocate. By fighting for equity and inclusion, she is showing how strong and dedicated she truly is. Johnson makes herself known and her voice heard by also being the president and CEO of Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood is a non-profit organization that provides sexual and reproductive health and sex education globally.
Conservatives have long argued the Planned Parenthood and reproductive health centers like it should be cut off… from federal funding. The latest proposal was announced by Trump administration. The rule would cut off Title X funding to Planned Parenthood and other centers unless they stop providing abortions or referring people. “This proposal does not necessarily defund Planned Parenthood, as long as their willing to disentangle taxpayer funds from abortion as a method of family planning.” A Trump official said.
The Planned Parenthood activist group justify their stance on protecting reproductive rights for mothers and providing free sexual and reproductive health services by claiming that their organizations efforts lead to the fundamental ideals of the historic authors John Locke, Edmund Burke, Adam Smith, and John Stuart Mill; life, liberty, and property. To begin, Planned Parenthood would argue that individuals who choose to take part in their services, do so to better their life. It may be utilizing their birth control services, getting an abortion, or acquiring simple reproductive health care, but the person receiving the resources ultimately decides what is best for their body and life. Throughout the organization's website and tabs of information
Planned Parenthood has been around just short of 100 years. Just recently they have experienced scrutiny for undercover videos that have been released about them. Planned Parenthood is known for doing abortions for all types of women and girls. On their website, it is even stated that three out of ten girls will have an abortion procedure by the time they are 45 years old (Planned). So many women have undergone this procedure.
Planned Parenthood provides “essential health services like contraception, prenatal care, cancer screenings and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases.” These services effectively help reduce the amount of morbidity concerning sexual health. Despite this, many politicians want to eliminate Planned Parenthood and other programs like it due to the abortive services that are offered at some facilities. The controversial issue of abortion, as polarizing as it is, should not be the only focus. Many people are left out of the conversation
Planned Parenthood is used for so much more than just abortions. People are unaware of the good that Planned Parenthood does in the United States. Planned Parenthood is around for the sake of people who are suffering from poverty. They allow people to come up with a plan to help with payments or if a person is eligible they can fill out an application to get the organization’s services for free without a co-payment. This form of payment is funded through Medicaid and is called Family Planning Benefit Program (“Who Are We”).
Pro-Choice “77% of Anti-Abortion Leaders are men, 100% of them will never be pregnant” (Barbara Kruger). Whether to continue or end a pregnancy, has been a long debated topic, extending long after the Roe v. Wade case that went all the way to the Supreme court (ProCon). Abortion is defined as the intentional termination of a pregnancy, frequently performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy (Oxford University Press). Each year, over one million women in America chose to have an abortion (WebMD). What would happen if that right to choose was taken away?
Planned Parenthood is where pregnant mothers go to talk about the things that are about what is going to happen when she has the baby. Then the mother will decide if she will either keep
Unintended pregnancies happen around the world daily. According to Guttmacher Institute, “In 2011, the most recent year for which national-level data are available, 45% of all pregnancies in the United States were unintended, including three out of four pregnancies to women younger than 20.” Birth control was approved for contraceptive use in 1960 and after two years, 1.2 American women were on the pill. Birth control should be available without a prescription due to the positive feedback. It should only be available to customers aged higher than 15, and must have a monthly check up with their OBGYN.
