When you hear the word “Lincoln” what is the first thought to come to your mind? Many would say a symbolization of honesty, integrity, freedom and even humanity. From 1861-1865 America was blessed with one of the greatest presidents we have ever had the 16th president of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln. At the time of his presidency the country was divided into two regions the north and south regions in which they both had withdrawn from the union. Lincoln led the United States to defeat the confederacy which followed the famous Emancipation Proclamation, which was put in place to abolish slavery.

There names were William Wallace Lincoln, Robert Todd Lincoln, Tad Lincoln, and Edward Baker Lincoln.

He put in his best effort to prevent the war from happening, and once the fighting began, he did everything in his power to stop it and to heal the broken nation. If Lincoln had not loyally believed in the Union through his presidency, America would not have healed as well as it had soon after Lincoln’s death. It was Lincoln’s dedication to the United States and his optimism for the future that ensured the well-being of the nation, his highest priority. Lincoln always put the good of the Union before his own personal convictions.

George Washington, our very first president under the new constitution, is the one that most frequently comes to mind with how he helped win the Revolution against Great Britain. Another who does is Thomas Jefferson who helped expand America and gain the territory we have today and who wrote our Declaration of Independence. However, the most influential out of all of them is Abraham Lincoln, the president that brought us out of the civil war and end slavery. Abraham Lincoln was a very strong president in the fact that he kept the government balanced and leveled out when it was reeling back and surviving the war.
Even though he lost some times, he never gave up. That’s how he got to be president. That’s why he’s a great president. Abraham Lincoln made great decisions when president that changed America. He got his face on the penny.
