A man that forever altered the United States’ federal government, Theodore Roosevelt, lead an era of reform throughout the country. During his presidency Roosevelt fought towards improving the lives of all Americans, especially those in the working class with poor living and working conditions. Theodore Roosevelt did not only plan to help Americans during his presidency, but instead of America and its future. By setting aside land to preserve the natural landscape of America and preventing giant businesses from controlling the country’s economy, Roosevelt modified the U.S. government. The federal government took great change during Roosevelt’s presidency especially through land conservation and trusts.
Another thing that was made is the Grand Canyon. These things gave everyone a fair chance, even the environment. He had many things happen in foreign affairs. Roosevelt negotiated the end of the Russo-Japanese War.
Roosevelt invited many social reforms that changed America. From his reforms came changes in Social, Economic, and Foreign Policy. Roosevelt presidency was a turning point in history, he put into effect different acts that protected our food, workers in factories and our economy. His biggest accomplishment though was the invaluable land that he made into national forest for future generations to enjoy and explore. Roosevelt “profoundly changed the course of the century” (Murder at the Fair), he was a president who thought for his country, not for those who helped him win the presidential election.

Roosevelt once said, “We have fallen heirs to the most glorious heritage a people ever received, and each one must do his part if we wish to show that the nation is worthy of its good fortune.” Roosevelt wanted individuals to do their part by protecting and cherishing the nation’s resources, and that led Teddy to be an important figure in American history. Roosevelt was important because he had the desire to make society more fair and equitable with economic opportunities for all Americans. America wouldn’t be the same without Roosevelt because of his dedication to conserve and make a change.

Abraham Lincoln was the president during the Civil War. His inauguration was the beginning of the war, because South Carolina left the Union. South Carolina was soon followed by other southern states and the southern states formed the Confederacy. The main goals for his presidency was to preserve the union and to stop the spread of slavery. Slavery ended at the end of the Civil War and the other states came back to the Union.
