Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States. He served as president from 1861 to 1865. He was one of the most famous presidents in United States for the Gettysburg Address, Emancipation Proclamation, and one of the few president who were assassinated. He is the most important man during the Civil War, and he made a huge impact on U.S history; he is widely regarded as one of the greatest presidents in U.S. history.

In his first presidency, he declared the Emancipation Proclamation, and the famous speech, the Gettysburg Address.The Emancipation Proclamation and Gettysburg Address are the two of the most famous accomplishment of Abraham Lincoln. These two were both declared and given in 1863 when the Civil War was still going on. On January 1st, 1863 after the battle of Antietam, Abraham Lincoln issued a preliminary Emancipation Proclamation. It freed all the slaves in the rebellious state but left those in the border states in slavery (History.com).This proclamation was basically the start line of freeing slaves. This only freed the slaves in the rebellious states, but in 1865, the 13th amendment was passed and every slave in the United States was freed. Shortly after Emancipation Proclamation, Lincoln gave a speech called Gettysburg Address. Abraham Lincoln delivered a brief speech at the dedication ceremony for the new national cemetery at Gettysburg: which is now widely known as Gettysburg address. It expressed the war's purpose, harking back to the founding fathers, the Declaration of Independence and the pursuit of human equality. It is one of the most famous speech in Lincoln's presidency and it is one of the most quoted speeches in history
