Despite Caesar's tragic death, his name and power carried influence throughout the story. The conspirators may have brought about his death, but they failed to destroy his public image. Caesar was delusional about his immortality but his legacy continued to live on. In addition to this, the common people still fancy the idea of a single leader. After his iconic speech, the citizens wanted to "crown" Brutus as Ceasar's replacement. Antony polishes the people's memory of Caesar and stirs them up against the conspirators. Later they desire revenge for their beloved Caesar's death. While Cassius was in the process of committing suicide, he credits his death to Caesar when he declares "Caesar, thou art revenged, even with the sword that killed thee."
