Antony almost immediately urges the crowd to grieve for their once humble leader, and additionally gives them a moment to reflect on themselves and their opinions. Furthermore, Antony commences describing the most minute details of Caesar's assassination: Look, in this place ran Cassius's dagger through. See what a rent the envious Casca made. Through this, the well beloved Brutus stabbed;
Yet, he was to loved and was believed to become a tyrant so he was assassinated by his “friends.” Afterwards his close friend Marc Antony slowly gets revenge against the killers with a speech that moved all of those who were okay with Caesar dying because they were brainwashed into thinking he deserved it. Antony’s speech used pathos, ethos, and other forms of speech to convince the crowd that Caesar was wrong.
The Power Effect Power affects many people and the outcomes of life. Power is a way of controlling people or events. In the play, Tragedy of Julius Caesar, written by William Shakespeare, power causes jealousy that destroys friendships and alliances. Julius Caesar is offered to rule Rome which makes other powerful people jealous. Cassius is jealous and tries to manipulate Brutus into assassinating Caesar.
Another main theme of the play is that power tends to corrupt those who hold it. “Et tu, Brute? Then fall Caesar!” (3.1.77). These were the last words of Caesar before he died.
Kaela Shea English 9: World Studies Nick Talotta 1/31/23 Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, is a play written in 1599. This play is about the assassination of a young man named Julius Caesar. In the play, as well as in real life, Caesar was a prominent and powerful political figure in Rome. He was offered leadership of Rome and other countries many times, but he rejected each offer. In the play, there is a group of high-powered men, called the Conspirators, that want Caesar dead.
Manipulation it means the action of manipulating someone in a clever or unscrupulous way. This action has been used for many years, even back in the bible days. It has even been used in the era of Julius Caesar. Anyone can use manipulation but it won’t always work on the person they are trying to do it to. Manipulation is used a few times in the Julius Caesar story, it is used on many different people.
According to Brutus, Caesar is like a serpent's egg because now that he was granted a lot of power, Brutus fears that someday Caesar will abuse the power like most people tends to do, so he's planning on to kill Caesar now to prevent it from happening. Decius convinces Caesar to attend the Senate by reinterpret Calpurnia's dream from bad to good, and he tells Caesar that the people of Rome are planning to give the crown to him on that day, so if Caesar said that he's not attending, the senate might change their minds. I think that Shakespeare is portraying an image of Caesar as a sympathetic, because Shakespeare talks a lot about Caesar's family- Caesar's wife,his seizures, and how Brutus is planning to betray Caesar; it implies the compassion
Shakespeare demonstrates persuasion as a central conflict in Julius Caesar. He portrays human nature can be occasionally influenced by manipulation. His use of foreshadow, irony, and wordplay establishes the conflicts the characters face when trying to effect a person’s decision. Cassius, a very articulate person does try to tempt Brutus not once, but twice. Brutus wins over the crowd of Rome as he gives a powerful speech.
Life is a series of equilibriums: chaos and order, peace and war, success and failure, life and death. These opposing forces produce a balance that delivers life to the universe. It’s no coincidence that certain actions cause eerily similar reactions. Without a doubt, “what goes around comes around,” is an accurate statement. In addition, it’s a statement William Shakespeare would certainly agree with.
The Power Of Reputation Our society's perception of individuals makes them heroes, villains, or average. Julius Caesar by Shakespeare is a historical tragedy that follows the society of Ancient Rome after Caesar defeats Pompey and becomes the most powerful man in Rome. Julius Caesar explores the concepts of heroism, honor, noble, and what people are willing to do for power. The Most Handsome Drowned Man by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is a children's short story about a large handsome corpse who washed up on the shore of an isolated village and began viewing him as a god. Heroes' power comes from their influence and image, not from their actions.
It is not possible for politics to be completely successful and moral at once, as demonstrated in Julius Caesar because humans constantly crave power, which is met with disapproval by others- leading to them carrying out immoral actions in order to stop the power from growing. Both leaders and citizens/officials fall victim to displaying immorality through their actions, which is frequently seen in Julius Caesar. This scenario applies in politics when one wants to gain power (Caesar) and rule in an unjust manner, while others (the Conspirators) want to destroy their threat of democracy (Caesar). Political leaders fail at their jobs when power is introduced, causing them to gradually disregard their citizens and focus on how they can run the
Imagine being the mastermind behind a plot to kill someone you’ve known for years. Most people would never consider such a thing, not only because it isn’t legal these days, but not many people would be able to do something so corrupt to a friend. The character Cassius in Julius Caesar didn’t seem to think too highly of his friend, or the law, because he did just that. Adlai Stevenson once said, “Those who corrupt the public mind are just as evil as those who steal from the public purse.” This can reflect very well on Cassius.
With this explanation, Antony is making the people feel guilty by using deceit and helping them realize that Caesar, the man they once looked up to, is actually dead.
After Caesar was killed, Mark Antony knew Caesar did not deserve to be killed, he deserved justice. Mark Antony proceeded to use the power he had to persuade the crowd of people to bring justice to Caesar. At one point in Antony’s speech he stated, “My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar and I must pause till it comes back to me” (III.ii.103). Mark Antony speaks from his heart. He uses his power to speak in front of the crowd and show them that Caesar deserved peace and justice.
Many places found themselves successful with dictatorship, but not all places were well structured and succeeded. Rome, Italy was greatly impacted by their dictator was Julius. The benefit of having one person with the power is that there is less people to try to listen to, people could make sure they followed those expectations and that everyone was able to listen to him and complete orders. The drawbacks of having one Roman dictator was that Julius Caesar had taken advantage of his power and used it the wrong way. Since he thought he was so powerful, he brought his troops to places they weren’t supposed to go to.
