The group that is most influenced by social media is young teens from ages 13-17 years old. “In fact, young boys tend to have just as much trouble when it comes to social media as girls do (Petrovsky 2015). Social media tells young men to hold in their feelings or take it out when fighting with others. Society pressures young men to be how they are supposed to be and not letting them expressing themselves.”Today, boys as young as 6-8 are already developing issues with their body image because of things that they have seen through social media, television and even from offline experiences (Petrovsky 2015).” You will never know if a young boy is going through this because he will not show as much emotion as girls of the same age would. “Between the ages of 13-15 years old are at high risk to begin drinking. According to results of an annual survey of students in 8th, 10th, and 12th grades; 26% of 8th graders, 40 % of 10th graders, and 51 % of 12th graders reported drinking alcohol within the past month( national insit aana 1997)”. “Binge drinking at least once during the 2 weeks before the survey was reported by 16% of 8th graders, 25 % of 10th graders, and 30 % of 12th graders (NIAAA 1997)”.More children are getting the idea that it is okay to drink under age.This proves that more teens are using social media and influences them to go down the wrong path of life.Generations before them should be the ones leading the younger generation to make more responsible decisions. Social media makes us believe that it is okay to follow others who are not in the stage of life that are doing their best. As a teenager I have been down the wrong path but I am at the point in my life where I look back and realize that I was stupid to believe the things people steered me toward. Bullying is an emotionally and mentally situation that can cause many issues. “An organization that aims for internet safety, called enough is enough, conducted a survey that found 95% of teenagers who use social media have witnessed cyber-bullying, and 33% have been victims themselves (Probst 2015)”. Teenagers do not want to tell anyone so they keep it held inside themselves. Some parents will limit their children's use of electronics and make them go play for an hour or more so they do not get obsessed. Children are physically exhausted when they go to school. Childrens images are judged everyday but everyone which can affect them.
