Adolescents plays an important role in the development of human growth. It is during this time of defining moments that shape up into successful function adult. As Fraud said, we can not move from one stage to another without successfully completely the first. As adolescents and Fraud’s genital stage of psychosexuality and final stage of human development, our adolescent years defy the outcome of our success as adults and our roles in society.

Sigmund Freud talks about the development with in teenagers physically, as psychosexual beings. This stage known as the genital stage, and as adolescents go through many different changes, as the genital stage is focused on the genitals for example, the development of the penis, testes, vagina, and breasts. He goes on to mention how this affects us emotionally and mentally with all the different hormone changes that a person goes through. We are all different in our own ways, however development within the genital stage, all adolescents reach the same sexual milestone outcome as sexually curious beings. Freud theory suggest that, tension is the direct result of the libido, and is discharge in pleasurable ways of thoughts and actions. This creates conflict within the adolescent stage as the needs to be meet during this stage of life can go unmet leading to fixations.
